Concerts

All Saints’ hosts a number of concerts every year, including our own concert series, Tunes at Noon.

Upcoming concerts include:

  • 9th December – Community Christmas Concert
  • 24th April 2024 – 150th Celebration with a performance of Handel’s Messiah

Tunes at Noon

Started in September 2022, Tunes at Noon, is a recital series for both the church and community. It draws talent from the church, the local area and further afield to provide monthly concerts on Sundays. They last half an hour, are completely free, and aim to cater to a breadth of musical tastes.

2023

1st October              Songs from the Shows – Members of All Saints’ sing some of their favourite songs from stage and screen.  

12th November         Tombeau de Couperin – Maurice Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin, written to commemorate those that fell in WW1.

3rd December           Advent to Christmas – Festive favourites from across the season performed by the Choral Scholars. 

2024

21st January              A Ceremony of Carols – The Treblemakers and church choir perform Britten’s work for choir and harp for the Christmas season. 

18th February           Pictures at an Exhibition – Robert Bridge plays Modest Mussorgsky’s famous work, written 150 years ago, in 1874. 

10th March               Stabat Mater – Soprano Hannah Cox and Alto Lizzy Hardy sing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater; giving a mother’s view of Jesus’ crucifixion. 

14th April                 Stanford’s Organ works – Organist Eleanor Gant plays music by Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford who died in 1924. 

19th May               Timeless music – Stelios Kyriakidis returns to give a solo guitar concert of ‘timeless’ works: reworkings of well-known pieces alongside original compositions which reflect on time.

16th June                  String Trio – Classical music by Mozart and Haydn for violin, ‘cello and piano. 

14th July                  The Treblemakers – All Saints’ children’s choir sing some of their favourite music from across the year.

15th September         Gustav Holst at 150 – A celebration of the life and works of local composer Gustav Holst.

13th October            All that Jazz – A jazz-inspired programme with music by Gershwin and the great American songbook.

10th November         Songs of Remembrance – All Saints’ Choral Scholars perform music fitting for Remembrance Sunday.

1st December          Advent Reflections – A mix meditative improvisation on plainsong melodies for Advent, including the ‘O’ Antiphons for the last week before Christmas. 

Knitting Concerts

Local pianist Robert Bridge curates and annual series of classical concerts on Sunday evenings, presenting high-class performers and performances in a relaxed setting. Listeners are encouraged to bring along something occupy them during the concert (like knitting!), or just listen and enjoy!

1885 Singers

The 1885 Singers are a local choir for the community based at All Saints’. They regularly perform concerts at the church. Click here to find out more.

Concert Venue

The church hosts concerts by a range of musicians. Concerts at All Saints’ see a wide range of performances, from community choirs to professional chamber music.  It is a popular destination because of its acoustics, organ and excellent grand piano.
