Dear Parishioners,
Thank you so much for your donations towards the Foodbank this month. We wanted to let you know how gratefully received your generosity is, and also just share a bit of information about The Yard, the Foodbank centre which we support.
The Yard on Tildesley Road is a community space on the Ashburton Estate, and is a base for a range of community-focused initiatives. They run weekly drop-in Tea + Toast sessions, a Job Club, Exploring Faith space, as well as the weekly Foodbank and Growbaby support sessions. Here is one of the leaders, Alex, outside The Yard.
The Yard provides emergency food, support and advice to local people who are experiencing financial hardship.
On average, The Yard gives food and help to around 120 people from Putney and Southfields every month, and they are really grateful for all the donations from our Parish.
We, as the Foodbank team, will let you know each month which items The Yard needs most. We have donation boxes in both churches if you wish to donate items when convenient for you.
The next collection Sunday will be on 9th April, Easter Day, and we thank you in advance for your ongoing incredible generosity.
