If you have a few hours spare each month and want to do something both amazing and worthwhile for young and vulnerable people in Wandsworth why not become an Appropriate Adult?
I went through training three years ago and the latest course for new volunteers starts in September. The only key requirements are good listening skills, empathy and the ability to be non-judgemental. You will work in a rota of dedicated volunteers helping teenagers and and vulnerable adults who have been detained at Wandsworth Police Station, acting as a bridge between police, lawyers and medical staff, making sure that the detainee you help understands the process and that their essential human rights and dignity are not compromised.
