The holidays are well and truly over, and that post-festive mood may have start to sink in. The Wetlands Centre in Barnes is running a Blue Prescribing Project, which aims to help people who are living with low mental health to feel relaxed and less stressed within their beautiful wetland surroundings. The Blue Prescribing Project is a partnership between Mental Health Foundation and Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust. Its aim is to improve health by harnessing the link between people and nature. It is a wetland health programme delivered over 6 weeks, designed to promote a range of mental and physical health benefits through facilitated wetland nature engagement. Delivered in a peer-support setting, individuals are equipped with tools to support their mental health and wellbeing in a positive way, while improving their confidence. People are able to be active, take notice of nature and connect with other people in a wetland setting.
The Blue Prescribing Project is for: vulnerable parents, people with long term health conditions, people living with mild to moderate mental health conditions, vulnerable diverse groups and communities, and people recovering from long Covid.
