The Adult Choir sings for the 10:30 Eucharist on most Sundays throughout the year, with a break after Christmas, Easter and during the Summer. The choir is made up of keen local singers, who are supported by four paid Choral Scholars, who act as section leaders. They rehearse at 9:30 on Sunday mornings, and once a month sing an evening service, which is often Choral Evensong. If you are not able to sing every week, this does not preclude you from joining.
The choir has a wide repertoire, and benefits from a wonderful acoustic in which to sing. Occasionally the choir sing in concerts and perform larger repertoire. In recent years this has included Faure’s Requiem and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs. The group is a sociable one, and sometimes travel to sing, and has recently sung at Peterborough and Southwark Cathedrals.
Membership of the choir is open to all. An ability to read music is necessary. If you wish to find out more or try the choir out, please contact the Director of Music, Alexander Turner: firstname.lastname@example.org
